Visionary Christian Home Educators exists to encourage a family lifestyle of discipleship and education for God's glory and for the benefit of the Kingdom.  We offer several types of augmenting activities that seek to accomplish this goal.

     ~  Children In Action (CIA)

     ~  Family Lifestyle Outreaches

     ~  Enrichment Workshops

     ~  Family Fellowship Evenings

 CHILDREN IN ACTION (CIA)

CIA is a home school club that provides service opportunities for the children in an effort to teach social empathy and awareness, thankfulness, and provide a venue for impressing on them their cultural mandate.  It is designed to teach kids to think of others - not just over the holidays - but all year round, and to help them develop the habit of social responsibility and stewardship in obedience to the command to 'love your neighbor as yourself.'

We believe a parent must be faithful to 'train up a child in the way he should go' by inculcating the helping others servant spirit at an early age.

CIA will have both a local and a global emphasis.  It is open to Visionary Christian Home Educator families currently home schooling at least one child.  Diligent V-CHE class participation is a prerequisite for  the CIA opportunity.  It is a club where parent and child learn and serve alongside one other.

Though not the purpose, one may choose to document time spent in community service to fulfill college entrance requirements.

A sign up sheet will be available in September for parents to volunteer to take on a CIA learning and service experience.  Service projects will rotate from parent to parent, house to house.  Children In Action will be as meaningful and significant as you make it.

Here is a taste of what we can be involved in this year - our faith in action:

FAMILY LIFESTYLE OUTREACHES (FLO's):

FLO's are seasonal evangelistic outreaches specifically designed to build unity within the family and reach out into our sphere of influence - extended family, friends, neighbors, and professional acquaintances - with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  FLO's are a great springboard to hosting and leading a neighborhood foundational women's bible study.

OCTOBER -

Halloween Outreach is designed to reach the lost in your neighborhood with a message of Christ's love and provision using a children's pumpkin carving party earlier in the week, and a pot-luck block party Halloween evening.  The families of children attending the pumpkin carving party are invited to participate in the pot-luck.

NOVEMBER -

Thanksgiving Outreach we encourage everyone to open their home in hospitality to those you know who may not be able to surround themselves with close friends and family on this day.  Neighbors, co-workers.  You can ask everyone to bring a side dish to contribute to the traditional Thanksgiving menu.  The day can be filled with the reading of Abraham Lincoln's Thanksgiving Day Proclamation, the children's story of Sarah Josepha Buell titled Thank You Sarah which tells of her tireless appeal for The United States of America to celebrate a day of thanks together as one nation, a round-table telling of personal thanks and blessings, nostalgic food, and family games.

DECEMBER -

Family Christmas Caroling Outreach extends a warm invitation to neighbors and acquaintances so parents and children can participate in celebrating with holiday festivities together.  Gathering with the purpose of celebrating Jesus' birth; there are children's craft stations, devotional story time, sharing of the Gospel, prayer, great food, and fellowship.  The evening is topped off by neighborhood caroling by candle light.

FEBRUARY

Valentine Party

MARCH/APRIL -

Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt  is a family event where neighbor children are invited to our homes to participate in an Easter Egg hunt, games, an object lesson, and sharing of a biblical-gospel Child Evangelism Fellowship's 'Wordless Book'.

MAY -

Christians Considering Homeschooling Outreach provides families the opportunity to minister to parents considering the homeschool journey.  Guests attending the event will have the opportunity to pose questions to a parent and student panel, see examples of curriculum choices, receive pertinent information about 'getting started' and community resources.

JULY -

Patriot Party Barbeque is a chance to celebrate our great nation's independence side by side  with neighbors and acquaintances.  It's a relaxed setting of backyard fun, good food, signing, and fireworks.  This year, we encourage families to have a focus of prayer for our nation's leaders and our soldiers who are fighting the good fight in enemy territory.

ENRICHMENT WORKSHOPS:

These workshops attempt to further equip the home school mom in her desire to nurture and nourish her family.  The sky is the limit as far as workshop topics are concerned.  Have something you'd like to share - bring it on!  Some examples of past workshops are: Once-A-Month cooking, bread baking, scrapbooking/hand-made cards, entertaining 101, getting started in grassroots politics....

FAMILY FELLOWSHIP EVENINGS:

Provide the opportunity for V-CHE family's to get together informally for fellowship with worship, prayer, public praise, singing, and a shared meal.  It's a wonderful way to foster a sense of community within our group.  The location for Fellowship Evenings will rotate...everyone will contribute a dish for the meal.  The host family will be responsible for scheduling the evening, planning, and leading the group in song and worship.
